Originally from Albemarle, NC, Kevin Simmons came to Friend Church with over ten years of successful ministry experience as both a Student Pastor and Music Minister.
Kevin is a graduate of Lee University with degrees in Christian Education and Bible. During his time at Lee University , Kevin was a member of the Lee University Campus Choir band and vocal ensemble. During his time at Lee University, Kevin led worship with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, and others. He also recorded with Alvin Slaughter of Hosanna Integrity and Larry Goss of Brentwood Publishing.
Kevin also holds degrees 
from Pfeiffer University in Special Education and the University of North Carolina in Middle School Language Arts. Along with ministry experience, he brings over five years of teaching experience in the public school setting with him to Friend Church. During his time as a teacher, Kevin was selected by Apple Computers and trained to integrate technology into teaching. Now, he brings that technical skill to us at Friend Church and infuses it into our creative ministry.
Kevin has a passion to creatively communicate the truth of Jesus Christ to the culture in which we find ourselves today. This passion spills out each Sunday as Kevin leads Friend Church in worship.
Kevin now lives in Chapin, SC with his wife of three years, Amanda. They have been serving at Friend Church since September of 2006.
