The men’s ministry is always on the grow at Friend Church! And we are constantly welcoming new men into our fellowship. We meet monthly on the third Thursday of the month for Bible Study and coffee and dessert. Call Bob Morgan at 732-4700 for more information.
It is a Friend Church tradition! There is a chili cook-off with prizes, and the whole family is invited to lounge around and catch the Football Finale called the Super Bowl! Heads up: the chili deal is a competition and not an exhibition!
- Early Spring Beach Retreat
In February/March, we road trip to the beach for some golf and deep sea fishing. It will be a tremendous time for fellowship and devotion.
Over the course of the year we are involved in several projects where we are providing fix-up for people in need. Men volunteer their time in helping those in need in the community. Although fellowship and fun in the name of Jesus is important to us we are always looking for opportunities to minister to others bringing honor and glory to God.
It is our annual fund raising and overall fun event. We have the responsibility in manning a couple of refreshment stands at Darlington on Mother’s Day weekend for the big race. It is just pure fun working along side each other serving the public, and making money for mission opportunities. Last year, we raised over $3,000 and that money went to our students to go to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip.
- Late Summer Mountain Retreat
For the past several years we have gathered on Beech Mountain in this cool cabin that sleeps about 35 situated near the top. It’s three days of relaxation, with golf, fishing, smoking a pipe, eating, story telling, and Pastor Greg leads us in a time of Bible study and challenge. It usually takes place in late August.
Every fall, the Friend Church Tiger Wood’s wannabes, the dudes that hit in the high 90’s, and men that have never swung a club before all converge on a local golf course for 18 holes of fun, laughter, joke swapping, a meal, and then they play a little golf.
